FAQ

  • Are you still accepting students for registration if the season has already begun? How long will you continue open registration? We’d love to have you join us!

Throughout the year we will continue to accept students on a case by case basis. We ask that you email the office if you’re interested in registering for a class AFTER the season has begun info@nextleveldance.net. We will do our best to find the best fit for your dancer!

*classes that are at max capacity will not be open for enrollment.

  • How do I get to Next Level Dance Center?

We are located at 153 West Commercial St. East Rochester, NY 14445.

PARKING is limited but available in the front of the dance studio. Depending on the time of day it can be busier - we share parking with several other village businesses.

  • What styles of dance do you offer at Next Level Dance Center?

We offer a wide-range of styles; ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary/modern, musical theatre, lyrical, hip hop and acrodance (tumbling).

  • What if I don’t want my child to perform in the recital?

That’s absolutely fine! But most of our classes are designated performing classes unless otherwise noted “non-performing.” if you’re hesitant about your child performing for any specific reason, please reach out to us - we believe the performance aspect of dance is an incredibly beneficial experience for all children that helps them grow in confidence and provide long lasting memories!

  • For what ages do you offer classes at the studio?

We have a growing dance program, offering combo classes for children as young as 2 years old. (no adult classes, YET!)

  • How do I know what level to sign my dancer up for?

For most styles, we recommend that dancers take a trial class that seems like the correct age/level class, and the instructor can evaluate the student in class to ensure he/she is in the correct class.  If not, the teacher will recommend which alternate class is most appropriate for that student. In some situations, a one-on-one assessment may be necessary.

  • My toddler loves to dance at home but is hesitant to participate in class. Is she or he not ready for dance class?

Sometimes it is the more shy, hesitant children who blow the audience away at the recital every year! Especially for a young child dancing for the first time, they may be unsure and shy to participate. Children like this learn through observation! You may be surprised and have an outgoing performer on the stage who knows all the steps after observing all year! Give your child the space to learn in the way that works for them, and often by the end of the year everything will "click."

  • How do I know if my child is ready for a performing class (will be in end of the year recital)?

If your child goes into class on her or his own and can follow the instructions the teacher gives, that is generally a good indication that they will be ready for the performance in June.

  • Why is the studio dress code important?

NLDC has a simple dress code for uniformity but also for the safety of our students. Hair must be pulled back off the face so that students can see properly when they are dancing and the hair does not get in the way. Baggy clothing (sweatshirts, baggy pants) are NOT allowed, because baggy clothing prevents the teacher from seeing the child's body and correcting alignment and technique. If improper alignment is not visible and is not corrected, it could lead to injury. Jewelry (except simple stud earrings) is not allowed because it could catch on clothing and injure the child. We do expect students to come in with proper shoes for the class they are taking, tights, leotards, Lyrca shorts, skirts or leggings.

  • Where can I buy dance shoes and attire?

NLDC will host 2-3 shoe sizing/ordering events throughout the school year where you can order your shoes through us. Otherwise, Bailey’s Slipper Shop in Pittsford or DiscountDance.com.

  • Can I watch my dancer in class?

We do not allow parents in the dance room. We will have two (2) lobby monitors that will stream the classes live, but ask that you do not stay in the lobby the entirety of class. Our lobby is small and is primarily for the dancers. We also offer two parent observation weeks during the year. See our Calendar for more info

  • What is your studio closing policy?

We follow the East Rochester school district for holiday and weather related closings. Refunds or makeups will not be provided for weather related closings unless otherwise noted. We will update our website, social media accounts, and use SMS text messaging to ensure all families are notified of any last minute closings. For Holiday closings and school breaks please click here

  • What is your studio payment policy?

Tuition is auto-drafted on the 2nd of each month. Payments not received within 10 days will incur a 10% late fee every 10 days it is late.

Our payment system will auto-draft the payment from a credit/debit card on file (a 3% service charge will be charged by our credit card merchant). You can also pay by check, but it must be received prior to the 2nd of the month.

  • What other fees will I be responsible for?

Costume deposit - Will be auto-drafted in November.

Costume deposits help cover the initial cost of your dancers costume. The remaining balance will be charged in April this includes the remaining balance of the costume, tights, accessories/props that may not have been covered by the deposit.
Most costumes cost between $75-$95 per costume. We do our absolute best to choose high quality costumes that won’t break the bank!

    Performance fee -
This fee will be announced late winter/early spring when we know what the fees will be. Performance fee will be auto-drafted in April. This fee helps us cover the cost of our theater rental and also provides your family 2 free tickets!
