Benefits of Competitive Dance…

We approach competitive dance with a POSITIVE OUTLOOK! We want our dancers to focus on doing their personal BEST, not winning. Being a part of competitive dance allows our faculty and dancers the opportunity to be inspired by the talent across the region. While competing, dancers are also learning to respect other dancers, studios and teachers for their talents! The dance world is very small, and building positive relationships with our peers is very important to us. Competition allows the dancer to perform more frequently and teaches them the importance of thriving under pressure. Each NLDC Company will be provided opportunities each season to take classes from dance industry professionals inside and outside of the studio. Being a part of the NLDC Company helps a dancer build their confidence while simultaneously becoming a well-rounded, and well-trained performer.

Every Company Dancer…

  • Must be self-motivated and able to self-evaluate

  • Must be physically fit with emphasis on healthy mind & body

  • Must have solid technical and performance skills

  • Strong desire to grow and develop as a dancer

  • Must have a sense of humor, bright smile, and positive attitude

  • Must have respect for their classmates and studio staff

  • Show continued support for the studio, faculty, and fellow dancers

  • Must have a supportive family base showing respect for NLDC faculty and students.

  • Prior dance experience required

Commitment Level:

The NLDC Company members are required to participate from September through June. This is a serious commitment and will not be taken lightly. Participants are expected to fulfill this commitment, and will be required to sign a parent/student contract of commitment.

Company dancers will attend upwards of 3-4 competitions a season, with the possibility of a Nationals event in late June/July (TBD).

Company dancers are provided multiple opportunities to attend conventions which allow them to learn from dance industry leaders and choreographers.

Dancers will be placed in a company based on their skill not their age.
Placement in a Company is at the discretion of the studio director.
